I’m sticking to the 30 day goal of exercising every day of this month. It has actually been relatively easy. I think because I made it a goal that I do every day.
It seems that I need to have a goal that requires constant effort, not one that I can do say twice a week at my leisure. No sirree. I’m just too lazy for something like that to work.
Like I said, I have exercised every day of the month, mostly mountain biking in the Boise foothills and a bunch of rides with my wife.
I have to tell you that having kids that are in the double digits makes it very easy to go out with your spouse on a regular basis. Last night we told the kids to put themselves in bed before we got home from our ride, sometime around 9 PM. Can you picture that? “Kids, your mom and I are going for a ride, we’ll be back in a couple of hours, take care of yourself and put yourself to bed by 9.”
I love it.
That’s the theory anyway. What actually happened is when we got home, the kids were not there. The back door was unlocked and the lights were on. We noticed that the dog had her bark collar on which means that the kids went somewhere.
“Ring, ring”. The phone rang and who was it on the other end of the line? Our oldest kid, or course. “Dad, we’ll be home in a few minutes, we went down to the Y and went swimming and didn’t notice what time it was.”
Fast forward two hours later after 11PM and the kids are finally getting themselves in bed. Oh well, we got our ride in.
