Drink Water To Lose Weight

How much should you drink every day?  Heck if I know. But I can tell you my next thirty day goal is to drink 64 ounces of water a day. I guarantee that I don’t drink that much currently. And honestly, I don’t know if I should be drinking that much water per day or not. I figure that if I drink a lot of water I won’t have the stomach to eat a lot of food. See where I am going with this?

The only downside I see to this is, hmm, how should I say this, peeing like a racehorse. I figure I will be using the bathroom a lot more frequently, probably not able to sit in one spot as long as usual (that’s another good thing).

Now lets recap the last two months since I started this weight loss diary two months ago. When I started, a weighed in at 190 lbs. Today, I am lighter now mainly by changing my behavior, specifically when I eat and how much I exercise. The month of December I had two thirty day goals - one was to eliminate candy bars from my diet. I had this nasty habit of scooting down to the break room in the afternoon to gorge myself on my favorite candy bar. The other thirty day goal was to stop eating after dinner - I think this has had the biggest impact on my weight loss to date. I ended the month of December 2006 four pounds lighter at 186 pounds.

I figured that was probably the high water mark for weight loss over the thirteen months that I plan on losing 23 lbs.

I should mention that I broke my December goal once. On Christmas eve, I had an ice cream float with the family.

January’s goal was to exercise every day for at least 30 minutes. Again, I broke this goal just once, this past weekend I was at my youngest brother’s wedding in Hood River Oregon. On Sunday, I ended up visiting all day and by the time I even considered exercising it was dark out. That by itself wasn’t the whole reason for not exercising outside, it’s darn cold there. The temperature was in the thirtys, but with a slight breeze next to the Columbia River, brrr.

The last workout of the month was a 55 minute workout on the ergometer. I rowed 12673 meters and averaged 2:10.5 minutes per 500 meters with each 11:00 minute split faster than the previous 500 meters.

I ended the month weighing 182 pounds. Hey, that’s another 4 pound weight loss for a month. What’s up with that?

I don’t know, but I’ll take it.

Not sure what the next month holds, but another 4 pound weight loss in a month would be OK by me.

Back to the thirty day goal. Adding more water to my diet should help keep my appetite down. I suspect that there are other benefits to drinking more water, but own use is simply to lose weight. Lets see what happens this month.
