Running For Weight Loss
We are a third of the way through January and I have exercised every day of the year so far!!
Tonight after dinner I did 3 x mile down at the local track; 6:34, 6:54, and 6:58. I’m not certain that the first mile was actually as fast as I recorded. I ran in the fourth lane for three and a half laps. The sign on the fence around the track says that 3.5 laps in lane 4 is the equivalent of 4 laps in lane 1. The second two miles were done in lane one.
I’m glad I got some running under my belt tonight and doing intervals is a good way to get a workout in a short amount of time. I jogged down to the track in about 5 minutes. I took a few minutes break in between each interval to get a full recovery. If I was really into tracking my progress, I would have also been monitoring my heart rate while running and after running. One of the best ways to tell how your training is going is to track how long it takes for your heart rate gets back to a “comfortable” range.
While I don’t have plans to purchase a heart rate monitor, I am planning on buying a pedometer in the very near future. I use to have a SportBrain pedometer and accidently flushed it down the toilet (don’t ask) a few years ago. The reason I like this brand is because they provide a website where you can download your daily results and track your progress.
I’ll take a few pictures and post how it works once I get my hands on a new pedometer.
